Electrochemical Immunoassays

Electroanalysis of vitamin E

Vitamin E is correlated to many reported benefits – protects cell membranes and tissues from damage of oxidation, aids the formation of red blood cells, and promotes the function of a healthy circulatory system.

Several methods were indicated in the scientific literature for vitamin E detection and quantification. The presentation is focused especially on the electroanalysis of vitamin E.

Sample preparation for chromatographic analyses. Liquid sample processing

Sample preparation is an essential step in chromatographic analysis. Several liquid sample preparations as (micro)extractions are indicated in the presentation, with mathematical characterization and different practical examples.

Quality and safety of fish and fish products

Fish is one of the most important foods in the human diet because of its high nutritional value. The chemical composition of fish varies widely and these variations are determined by many factors such as fish species, life cycle, feeding habits, and environmental conditions.

The presentation indicates practical analyses that are performed in order to estimate the quality and safety of fish and fish products.

Assessment of the pH value of animal feed

The quality of the feed for animals is important for their life. During a practical stage in the laboratory, the students from Bitola tested the pH value of animal feed using a standard protocol.

Salmonella

Salmonella is a major foodborne pathogen of both animals and humans. This bacterium is responsible for considerable morbidity and mortality world-wide. Gastrointestinal infections with Salmonella are usually self-limiting and rarely require medical intervention. Bloodstream infections, on the other hand, are often fatal even with hospitalization. The presentation is focused on data about the transmission of Salmonella, the associated symptoms and also on the prevention procedures to be considered for a healthy lifestyle.
